CHAIRPERSON

Ms. Miriam S. Perez is a veteran nurse of over 26 years. Currently, she holds the position of Public & Professional Education Specialist for the New York Organ Donor Network. Ms. Perez has orchestrated over 100 local and national media appearances. She has made numerous presentations in the nation including a presentation at the Howard University Hospital’s third Samuel L. Kountz Symposium on Renal Disease and Transplantation in Minorities where Ms. Perez presented and published a paper on Latinos having the highest consent rate for organ donation in New York City of any other ethnic group. Ms. Perez is the Chairperson and board member for the Latino Organization for Liver Awareness. Where she promotes the efforts of LOLA. and often conducts presentation to public and professional groups on LOLA's mission.

Jose Nicot is an Associate Director of TranSpend, Inc. Jose has built a solid career with over 20+ years experience as a management and procurement executive within the highest levels of New York City and New York State government. He has worked extensively within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, affordable / special needs housing and wholesale food industries. As a successful entrepreneur and business executive, he brings content knowledge and a contact base that is invaluable.

SECRETARY

Catherine Paykin received her Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in 1984. She has worked as a medical social worker in the fields of transplantation of all organs, HIV/AIDS and general medicine in the New York City area for over 20 years. She has been a program director at the National Kidney Foundation since 1998, implementing and developing programs in the fields of transplantation of all organs, living donation and deceased donation and kidney disease. She has been a supporter of the Latino Organization for Liver Awareness since its early inception and joined the board of directors in 2004.

TRUSTEE

Dr. Lewis Teperman, is the director of the Mary Lea Johnson Richards Organ Transplantation Center at New York University Medical Center, an internationally recognized transplant program. The program offers unparalleled quality in its patient care, training, and research programs. Dr. Teperman is active in various transplantation societies and is on the board of the American Liver Foundation, the New York Regional Transplant Program, the Latino Organization for Liver Awareness (LOLA), the New York Consortium for Liver Transplantation, Manhattan TRIO, and is a member of the UNOS Liver and Intestine Committee.
